Jeff Furman is a multi-instrumentalist (mountain dulcimer, clawhammer banjo, guitar, autoharp, and string bass) who has been playing old-time music since 1980. Primarily a banjo player for many years, Jeff developed a rhythmic and melodic style of playing which has heavily influenced his dulcimer playing. NGFDA 2010 Fall Festival (UNICOI) November 18-21, 2010 in Helen, Georgia - Jeff will once again teach at "UNICOI"...the great festival put on by the North Georgia Foothills Dulcimer Associations held at Unicoi State Park in Helen, Georgia. Jeff will teach 6 workshops over the 4 day festival including: Tunes of Stephen Foster, The Wonderful World of Waltzes, Improving Your Left hand, Flatpicking, All About Chords, and Jam Survival Techniques. Jeff will be the featured instructor at the Annual Dulcimores Dulcimer Workshop in Blythewood, South Carolina. This all day workshop will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood, SC. Jeff will be teaching intermediate/advanced workshops, including "Smoothing Out Your Playing," "Expanding Your Old-Time repertoire," "Tasteful backup/Playing Well With Others," and "Waltzes." Jeff will also perform in concert at 5pm after the workshop. Michael Shull, well-known teacher and performer, will also be at the workshop teaching the novice/intermediate class. March 9 – 13, 2011 - 20th Annual Buckeye Dulcimer Festival, Ashley, Ohio
Jeff is very pleased to be invited back to this wonderful dulcimer festival for its 20th annual event. The details will follow as they are available. Jeff will be teaching a two-day workshop (5 hours each day on Wednesday and Thursday) on Clawhammer Banjo (beyond basics), and several mountain dulcimer workshops on Saturday (topics to be determined). Jeff is also very pleased that his wife (life and music partner), Janet, will also be teaching Old-Time Fiddle at this festival. They will perform together in concert Friday or Saturday night.
